ADVENTURE LOG

LIMINALIA

THE BOY

Mr. Rabbit goes up the stairs.

"Wait, wait a second, are you crazy?! We're gonna be eaten by wolves!"

"Do I look devoured for you?"

"Well, no, but what guarantee we have that we're not gonna be eaten tonight?"

"As far as I know, son, none. You must be brave and trust the Graces."

"I can't do this. I can't do this! D-don't you understand? I'm not brave. I'm in fact the opposite of brave. Yep, I'm unbrave. I can't do this, Mr. Rabbit!"

"Yes, you can, Max. Now, listen to my words, for I'm old and speak fancy, and also a rabbit:

You shall face your fears if you want to find what you Want The Most. Time will come when you might need to face the Greatest Fear of All, and there will be only
you, Max. None shall be able to help you. But then, when this moment arrives, and trust me, it WILL ... you shall have already found the courage to prevail. For you, Max, albeit you don't see that yet, are the bravest of the boys. I have spoken. Trust these words."

Max was shaking. At that moment, he didn't see himself as brave yet. Everything he wanted now was to hide and cry. He wasn't ready. He didn't want to be.

Still, he took the pumpkin and went upstairs. Gathering all the courage he had, he says:

"I-I'm ready. Let's do this."

"Just as I said, my boy. Now, pay close attention: I will climb on your back and we shall get out of here. Watch your steps and wait for my signal. I'll tell what to do. Be brave!"

With all setted, they put on the clothes and opened the door.
