LIMINALIA

“She really must be missing you, don’t she?”

And Max trembled. The air went cold out of a sudden, and he felt like millions of tiny, sharp paper blades were cutting his heart in even more millions of pieces.

“I miss her so much…”

He really missed his mom. He missed to await anxiously for her to open the door, always with a warm smile on her face. He missed her caring hug, her tender kisses. He always thought it was really annoying (and kind of embarassing, specially in front of the entire school), but now he would give everything to go back in time and get one kiss, if that were all.

He missed the sound of her voice. It was kind of rough, kind of tired, but so full of love. She missed to listen her to sing goodnight songs at bedtime and good morning songs at wakeup time. They were always silly songs, because Mum was really fond of jokes, and also really silly sometimes.

And sometimes, but only sometimes, she would also get really, really angry, like when he hid his homework or lied, but even when then she would never lost her temper. Because she was the best person in the entire world.

Both worlds.

Before he could realize, Max felt the warm touch of tears rolling down his face. He was crying.
