LIMINALIA

“you see, max, it is told that below the castle’s fundation there is a giant mechanical system. a true engine that feeds all sort of machinery inside these walls.”

“can you feel it, dear? under your feet, the ground shaking slightly? can you feel the energy running all over the ground, beneath each single brick that compound this whole place?”

“this isn’t magic, max!”

“it is SCIENCE!”

And while they were talking, Meryl got more and more agitated, waving they arms with visible excitation. You could see they were truly happy to rant on their favourite topic, and could spent endless hours talking about it.

At the light of new information, Max sharpened his senses, trying to feel it.

The science.

And it was true. The ground WAS shaking.

A little, almost impercetible buzzing could be felt, coming from under their feet.

The air felt almost eletrical, the near they were to the Gate. Max’s hair was all bristling up.

It was really neat, actually.

And Meryl kept talking, happily.

“gazillions of machines, all interconected in an intricate, kind of complicated series of mechanisms that keep the entire castle working to this day!”

“admitedly, it is unkown what exactly keeps the machines working, and it is most likely to be some form of magic wizardry, but this fact does NOT exclude the mechanical marvelous that is the castle’s enginering!”

“I must recognize it is, indeed, pretty fascinating.”

“of course it is! now shhh, i haven’t finished yet!”
