“The very concept of ‘time travel’ is nothing but hogwash. You can’t retrocede in time under any normal circumstances. One cannot exit a timeline and remain existent, this is not possible.”
“What is a timeline?”
“A timeline, Max, is the collection of all the events that occur in the span of this abstraction we call “time”. It is arranged in a pretty organized yet simple pattern: what happened, what is happening, and what will happen. Past, Present and Future. Now, by standard knowledge, there is only one timeline, which is the one in which we are currently ‘in’. However, I want you to imagine something, and for this you must picture the image of a line of yarn.
Imagine this line as a perfect, straight line - this is our timeline. You can picture it tied to a big ball of yarn, representing the line that still does not ‘exist’ (in the sense that it is not yet part of the line) and you’ll reach the concept of ‘future’. It is pretty simple, isn’t it?”
